The department of ECE was established in 2001 with an intake of 60 students in the Under Graduate program. The intake was enhanced to 120 in 2004. In the year 2011 an additional intake of 60 was sanctioned. The department is NBA accredited once in 2008. The department also runs a Post Graduate program M.Tech with specialization in VLSI Design, which started from year 2008 with an intake of 18 students and in the year 2011 an additional intake of 18 was sanctioned. In the year of 2009 the department runs one more Post Graduate Program Embedded systems with an intake of 18 students.
The department has high qualified and experienced faculty in varied fields of specializations. The department has good infrastructural facilities and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories. The department also has audio-visual facilities with LCD and OHPs and Digital Classes for Effective Teaching. The staffmembers are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences and refresh courses to keep in peace with recent developments in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
All students are mentored by faculty members as part of student counseling. Academic monitoring committee frequently monitors the class work progress and any other student/faculty grievances. Tutorial and remedial classes are also conducted as part of the curriculum. Personality development/communication skills integrated in to the curriculum. Extensive industry interaction is carried out through Industrial tour/Industrial training like SHAR (ISRO),Vizag STEEL Plant. Students are also involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The students of the department organize annual national level student technical fests. Students also maintain local chapters of professional societies like IETE etc. Good numbers of students of the department are also part of the social services like NSS, Acharana etc.
